GH₵ 384, 048 SRC YI BI BOA SCHOLARSHIP PAID INTO 251 UG STUDENTS' ACCOUNTS

Education is perceived as one of the effective means through which the development of a country is centred on. However, the cost of education in some parts of the world is becoming unbearable. Therefore, for purposes of equity and justice, some educational institutions have adopted policies and scholarship opportunities for brilliant but needy students of which University of Ghana is one of those institutions

On the 1st day of February, 2023, the Students Financial Aid Office, headed by Ms. Selina Saaka Torrison in collaboration with the SRC, organised a Focus Group Discussion for beneficiaries of both SRC YI BI Boa Scholarship and UG Sponsorship for the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The Round Table Discussion saw a number of successful and unsuccessful applicants, and student leaders in attendance. The theme for the event was "How Can We Improve The Scholarship Application Processes". 

The inspiration for the theme was in relation to the numerous hazards students have gone through in their quest to apply for scholarships. Some brilliant but needy students all over the years are unable to complete their scholarship applications due to the lengthy requirements and the voluminous nature of the scholarship documents. Speaking during the discussion, Students pleaded that, the office made sure to omit certain requirements in order to allow genuine and more students to apply for scholarships smoothly and peacefully

Whereas successful applicants were happy and shown gratitude to the students' Representative Council and the University at large, the unsuccessful expressed great dissatisfaction and disappointments.

At the 10th January, 2023 Students Financial Aid Management Committee (SFAMC) meeting, it was decided to award Two Hundred and Fifty-One (251) continuing student applicant on SRC YI BI Boa Scholarship Scheme for the 2022/2023 academic year.

On Thursday, January 26, 2023, the Students Accountant, Mr. Samuel Osei Mensah credited the students with the sum of 384,048 Ghanaian Cedis into the UG Students Accounts. Meanwhile, scholarship letters will be issued to beneficiaries on the 15th of February, 2023. This is aimed at allowing students to register their courses online to avoid the stipulated deadline date. SKO BUREAU is advising and encouraging all students to apply for the SRC YI BI Boa Scholarship, UG Sponsorship and any other scholarships whenever the portals are opened. The SRC YI BI Boa Scholarship and the UG Sponsorship portals are likely to be opened on either late first semester or early second semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year

The Asumadu-Ndukwe led administration has done a good work that needed to be recommended. As the immediate former SRC Scholarship Committee Head of the past administration supra, I will like to thank the University Management, the Head of the Students Financial Aid Office, the SRC, the Benevolent Donors, and all stakeholders who ensured that the 2023 Scholarship amount became a reality

We will forever remain indebted to you all. Students who are beneficiaries of the said scholarship fund are advised to take their education seriously in order to make judicious use of this opportunity
