HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2ND EDITION OF THE SAMIRA BAWUMIA LITERATURE PRIZE

Thursday, April 6, 2023, marked a momentous day in the literary history of Ghana as the 2nd edition of the Samira Bawumia Literature Prize (SBLP) was held.
The SBLP is a biennial writing contest launched in 2020 by the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects to create and support a nurturing environment for talented young writers in Ghana. The contest seeks to encourage and promote creativity, innovation, and excellence in writing among young Ghanaians
It was a moment of joy and celebration for the winners, their families, and their friends. It was a joyous occasion as the winners and finalists celebrated their achievements in the presence of their families, friends, and well-wishers
Some of the notable personalities who graced the occasion include, Hon Lydia Seyram Alhassn, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon Freda Akosua Oheneafrewo Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Tano South, Okyeame Kwame, a renowned Ghanaian musician
We would like to thank all of our stakeholders for their support during and after the contest. The success of the SBLP would not have been possible without the contributions of our sponsors, partners, judges, and volunteers. We are grateful for your unwavering support and commitment to the promotion of literature in Ghana.

Finally, we would like to praise, thank, and appreciate Samira Bawumia for her kind gesture in launching the SBLP. The SBLP has provided a platform for young Ghanaians to showcase their talents and to be recognized for their contributions to the literary world. We look forward to renewed commitments in the coming years, and we encourage all young Ghanaians to keep writing and to pursue their passion for literature.
