The release of the academic calendar for the 2022/2023 academic year is a crucial step in ensuring that the University's academic programs run smoothly. The calendar provides a clear schedule of the academic activities that will take place throughout the semester. This information is essential for both the students and the faculty members, as it allows them to plan their schedules and allocate their time effectively.

The ten-week schedule for teaching and learning is in line with the standard duration for the second semester of most academic institutions. During this period, students will attend lectures, engage in group discussions and tutorials, complete assignments and projects, and sit for exams. It is important to note that the second semester is typically more intense than the first, as it covers more topics and requires students to consolidate their knowledge from the first semester.

However, it is worth noting that some schools within the University may have different academic calendars due to their unique academic programs. For instance, the School of Law, the Medical School, the Dental School, the School of Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences, the School of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the School of Pharmacy may have different dates for their semesters. This is because these schools have programs that extend beyond the normal duration of the academic year. Students in these schools are advised to obtain their calendars from their respective schools to avoid confusion.

The two-week vacation between the first and second semesters may seem short, but it is actually a standard duration for most academic institutions. It is designed to allow students to rest, recharge, and prepare for the upcoming semester. During this period, students are encouraged to take a break from academic work, engage in leisure activities, spend time with family and friends, and reflect on their academic goals.

In conclusion, the release of the academic calendar for the 2022/2023 academic year is a critical step in ensuring that the University of Ghana runs its academic programs smoothly. The ten-week schedule for teaching and learning is in line with the standard duration for the second semester of most academic institutions.
