SAVE THE DATE: 2023 AGGREY-FRASER-GUGGISBERG MEMORIAL LECTURES AND SPECIAL CONGREGATION

The University of Ghana has announced that the 2023 Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lecture Series will be delivered by Her Ladyship Justice Professor Henrietta J.A.N. Mensa-Bonsu. The theme for the lecture series is "Resilience, Technology, and Humanism" and it will take place on Wednesday 26th April and Thursday 27th April 2023, at 4:30 pm in the Great Hall of the University of Ghana.

The Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lecture Series is an important annual event that provides an opportunity for members of the University community to learn from experts in various fields of study. This year's lecture series promises to be informative and engaging, with Justice Professor Mensa-Bonsu sharing her insights on the intersection of resilience, technology, and humanism.

In addition to the lecture series, a special congregation will be held on Friday 28th April, 2023, at 3:30 pm in the Great Hall to confer honorary degrees on 18 personalities who have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavour. This is a great opportunity for the University to recognize and celebrate the achievements of these individuals and their contributions to society.


LECTURES

DAY 1

The lectures themselves also promise to be thought-provoking and insightful. The first lecture, titled "We are Watchers of a Beacon, Whose Light Must Never Die," will explore contemporary musings on the march from the Ghana we have, to the Ghana we Desire". This lecture will be an opportunity to reflect on the progress that Ghana has made, as well as the challenges that still need to be overcome. The chairperson for the day will be Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana


DAY 2

The second lecture, titled "Yen Ara Asaase Ni" Remix - Tuning Up the Contribution of Law in the Ghana we Desire", will explore the role of law in achieving the Ghana we desire. This lecture will be an opportunity to reflect on how law can be used as a tool for development, as well as the challenges that Ghana faces in this regard. Justice Barbara Ackah-Yensu, a member of the University of Ghana Council will be the chairperson for the day

Overall, the 2023 Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lecture Series and Special Congregation promise to be exciting events that will provide an opportunity for members of the University community to learn from experts in various fields of study and to celebrate the achievements of outstanding individuals. All are cordially invited to attend and participate in these events.
