The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, is set to tour and commission modernised facilities under the Classroom Modernisation Initiative today, April 4, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.

The Classroom Modernisation Initiative is one of the three-pronged projects under the Digitalisation Initiative aimed at transforming the learning environment at the University of Ghana and enhancing the quality of education. The commissioning will take place at the Legon Campus, Accra City Campus, and Korle-Bu Campus, respectively

The Classroom Modernisation Initiative is a strategic project that seeks to modernize lecture theatres, classrooms, and other learning spaces across the University of Ghana. The project involves the refurbishment of existing classrooms and lecture theatres, installation of new equipment and facilities, and the construction of new classrooms and lecture theatres where necessary. The initiative aims to create an enabling environment that fosters effective teaching and learning, promotes academic excellence, and enhances the overall student experience at the University of Ghana.

The tour and commissioning of the modernised facilities by the Vice-Chancellor is a significant event for the University of Ghana community. It is an opportunity to showcase the University's commitment to providing a world-class education to its students by investing in modern facilities and infrastructure. The venues for the commissioning include the Larway Oracca Tetteh (LOT) Building, close to the School of Nursing and Midwifery on the Legon Campus, lecture halls at the Korle-Bu Campus, and the Accra City Campus. These venues have undergone significant renovations, modernization, and upgrades to provide students with a comfortable, conducive, and innovative learning environment.

The Oracca Tetteh/Larway (LOT) Building is one of the key venues for the commissioning. The building houses a modernised lecture theatre that has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including audio-visual equipment, digital projectors, and sound systems. The lecture theatre is designed to accommodate a large number of students and provides an interactive and engaging learning experience.

The purpose of the inspection could be to evaluate the quality of the work being done and ensure that it meets the standards and requirements set by the university. The Committee might also provide recommendations for improvement or changes that could be made to optimize the facilities and make them more conducive to teaching, learning, and research

On the 13th day of December 2022, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo commissioned the now refurbished K.A. Busia lecture hall as part of the classroom modernization project. The initiative which is aimed at improving teaching and learning has now been extended to other campuses of the University (Korle-Bu and City Campus)

The lecture halls at the Korle-Bu Campus and Accra City Campus have also been modernised to meet the needs of students and faculty. The lecture halls have been equipped with new chairs, desks, audio-visual equipment, and other facilities to ensure that students have access to a comfortable and conducive learning environment.

The tour and commissioning of these modernised facilities by the Vice-Chancellor is a testament to the University's commitment to providing a world-class education to its students. The modernisation of the facilities is in line with the University's vision of becoming a world-class research-intensive institution that provides cutting-edge education and research.

The tour and commissioning of these facilities will also provide an opportunity for the University community to interact with the Vice-Chancellor and share their thoughts and ideas on how to improve the quality of education and research at the University of Ghana.
