This interruption will affect several areas of the campus and its environs, including the School of Performing Arts, CBAS, East Legon, Legon Hall, Akuafo Hall, Mensah Sarbah Hall, Valco 1&2, Vikings Hostel, UG Basic School, SPH, Noguchi, UGEL Halls, Jubilee, ISH 1&2, Banking Square, PDMSD yard, Legon Hill, Lower Hill, Little Legon, Ayido Circle & Crescent, Link Gate Chalets, Ayido Flats, South Legon, and Central Cafeteria.

While the announcement of the power outage is necessary for preventive maintenance work to be done on the Medium Voltage Network, it raises concerns about the preparedness of the University to deal with power outages. It is common knowledge that power outages are a persistent issue in Ghana, and the phenomenon known as "dumsor" has affected the country for years

The areas affected by the power outage include several Halls of Residence and Hostels where students live. According to the University Management, Students are advised to charge their phones and other electrical gadgets to stay connected during the outage. While this is a helpful tip, it does not solve the problem of students being left in the dark without access to electricity, especially in the midst of exams and academic work.

The solution to the problem of power outages is that, we have generators in every Hall /Hostel of Residence. On that note, the University Management, Hall Management, Student Representative Council (SRC), and Junior Common Room (JCR) Executives should make sure that the generators in the various halls are powered for use during this period of the power cut. This is a solution that has been proposed before, and students have been paying the generator levy of 100 Ghanaian cedis every year without seeing the benefits of it during power outages.

The time has come for the University Management, SRC, and JCR Executives to take action and ensure that students can benefit from the generator levy they have been paying. It is essential to make sure that students have access to electricity during power outages, especially during important academic periods. The appropriate authorities should make no excuses in ensuring that generators are powered for use during power outages.

In conclusion, the scheduled power outage is necessary for preventive maintenance work to be done on the Medium Voltage Network. However, the University needs to be prepared to deal with power outages and provide students with access to electricity during these times. The solution is to have generators in every Hall of Residence and Hostel, and the University Management, SRC, and JCR Executives must ensure that these generators are powered for use during power outages. It is time for students to benefit from the generator levy they have been paying for years, and the appropriate authorities should take action to make this a reality
