John Dramani Mahama Emerges Victorious In NDC Presidential Primaries With 98.9% Of The Votes

In a closely watched and highly anticipated event, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held its Presidential Primaries yesterday, May 13, 2023, to determine the flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 general elections. The outcome of the primaries saw John Dramani Mahama emerge as the winner, solidifying his position as the party's chosen candidate

With an overwhelming majority, Mr Mahama garnered 297,603 votes, which accounted for a staggering 98.9% of the total votes cast. In contrast, Mr Kojo Bonsu managed to secure only 3,181 votes, representing a modest 1.1% of the votes. Notably, Mr Kwabena Duffuor had earlier withdrawn from the race.

The convincing and unequivocal victory of John Dramani Mahama in the NDC Presidential Primaries was widely anticipated and comes as no surprise to political observers and party members alike. From the onset of the campaign period, it became increasingly apparent that Mahama held a commanding lead in terms of popularity and support within the NDC. 

The outpouring of endorsement from various executives, leaders, as well as delegates from national and constituencies, left no doubt that Mahama had solid backing within the NDC party. These declarations of support further solidified the conviction that Mahama was destined to win the flagbearership race convincingly.

With a commanding victory, Mahama's success further solidifies his position as a strong contender in the upcoming 2024 general elections general elections. He will now face the incumbent government, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate and other political parties.
