QUESTIONS AND INTERACTIVE SESSION

During question time, a TV3 reporter asked several questions. These questions were answered by Professors Gordon Awandare, Justice Bawole, and Ransford Gyampoh.

He asked, do students need to be in the halls before engaging in clashes? Prof. Awandare answered, "when you scatter them, you limit their mobilisation. For the recent mob or clash, they mobilize themselves from somewhere and came to Commonwealth Hall and as such, the police were able to arrest eighteen of them. This has never happened before. Some of those arrested are not even students at all"

"Parents cannot dump teenagers on campus thinking that they are matured." Prof Gyampoh has said when answering the question on the role of parents. He further stated that "we (University Management) are not a bunch of some unreasonable beings here. Students must always approach the authorities for clarifications and not run to the media"In answering one of the questions, Prof. Justice Bawole, the Dean of the Business School stated that "The University has hit a level where it cannot regenerate money""If we reduce the intake, it means that the majority of Free SHS graduates will not make it to University and we do not want to do that." She further answered, "no university in the world accommodates all students on campus. We are about 67,000 now. We need to decapsulate." Dr Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin, the HOD of Communication Studies replied when a reporter asked, why not reduce the intake if there is no availability of bedsOne reporter asked, are you aware that porters take monies from students? Prof. Bawole answered, "even in the media there are many people who parade themselves as media men but not. So as Porters."

Prof. Awandare added, "porters do not have the power to allocate rooms. Currently, "one porter is under investigation and very soon we will bring the findings to an end. People at times makes an allegation without evidence. "When you make an allegation without formalizing it, how are we going to solve the problem".

Automatically, level 100s are supposed to get beds or rooms when admitted. One reporter stated. Prof. Awandare responded, "there is no automatic room for anyone. We are in a process of accommodating all level 100s on campus. We have started piloting by giving rooms to level 100s in Sarbah and Commonwealth Halls. Next year, we will extend it to the other traditional halls. That is why we have brought the in-out-out policy effective 2025".

Students are advised to calm down and be of one mind and accord with the University Management since they are there because of students interest.
