THE UGSRC IS SET TO ORGANIZE FREE CRITICAL THINKING AND ACADEMIC WRITING I DISCUSSION AHEAD OF THE END OF SEMESTER'S EXAMINATION

Story by: Samuel K. Owusu

The University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) has announced that it will be organizing a free Critical Thinking and Practical Reasoning (UGRC 150) and Academic Writing I (UGRC 110) discussion for students, particularly the level 100's

This is an exceptional initiative that has been taken by the Boakye-Lincoln led administration to support the academic growth and success of students.

The UGRC 150 course on Critical Thinking and Practical Reasoning is essential for all students, especially those at the undergraduate level, as it provides them with a solid foundation in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving. It helps students develop their cognitive abilities to analyze and evaluate information critically, making sound decisions, and solve problems effectively. The course is crucial for students to excel academically and professionally.

Similarly, the UGRC 110 course on Academic Writing I is designed to help students develop their writing skills, including grammar, syntax, and style. Writing skills are essential for academic success, and Academic Writing I provides students with the tools to communicate their thoughts and ideas effectively in written form. The course helps students learn how to write essays, research papers, and reports, among other academic writing assignments.

The UGSRC has taken a laudable step by organizing this discussion and providing past questions of the UGRC 150 and UGRC 110 courses to students. The past questions will help students familiarize themselves with the examination format and the types of questions asked in the past. Additionally, the UGSRC will teach students about the procedures for answering questions, providing them with a roadmap for success in their courses.

The discussion sessions will take place on Saturday, 1st April 2023, and Sunday, 2nd April 2023, at the JQB Room 22 & 23. The schedule for the discussion is as follows:

1. Saturday, 1st April 2023: 3:00 p.m to 4:30 pm (Critical Thinking)

2. Saturday, 1st April 2023: 5:00 p.m to 6:30 p.m (Academic Writing I)

3. Sunday, 2nd April 2023: 3:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m (Academic Writing I)

The UGSRC has created a fantastic opportunity for students to clear their doubts and ask questions related to the courses. The discussion sessions will allow students to interact with experienced facilitators who can provide guidance on how to excel in the courses.

It is essential that level 100 students take advantage of this opportunity to attend the discussion sessions. This will not only benefit them in their academic endeavors but will also give them an opportunity to network with their peers and learn from others' experiences.

In conclusion, the UGSRC's initiative to organize the Critical Thinking and Practical Reasoning and Academic Writing I discussion sessions is highly commendable. The council's efforts to provide past questions and teach students about the procedures for answering questions will be invaluable to continuing and level 100 students. I encourage all level 100 students to attend the discussion sessions at the JQB Room 22 & 23 on Saturday, 1st April 2023, and Sunday, 2nd April 2023. This is a rare opportunity that should not be missed, and it has the potential to make a significant impact on students' academic success
