The Academic Registration Period was supposed to end on Friday, February 10, 2023, but was later extended to Friday, March 3, 2023. Mark the same way, the Supplementary Re-Sit Registration Period was extended to Friday, March 3, 2023 whiles the initial deadline date was Friday, February 24, 2023
The Academic Registration deadline day is always a crucial day for students in any institution of higher learning. It is the day that determines whether a student is officially enrolled for the semester or not. On this day, students rush to complete their registration and pay their tuition fees.Mr Ezekiel Ababio

However, for some students, this day can be a nightmare, especially for those who cannot afford to pay their tuition fees. The SRC Scholarship Committee Head, Mr Ezekiel Ababio has paid the fees of four students amounted to GH₵ 2,500. Paying students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is a gesture that can change the lives of these students forever.
It must be noted that Mr Ababio is a Committee Head Designate and is yet to be approved and sworn in as the SRC Scholarship Committee Head by the General Assembly of the SRC. The approval and the swearing-in could possibly be done tomorrow, Sunday, March 4, 2023.
The decision to pay students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is strategic, as it helps to alleviate the stress and anxiety that students experience on this day. When students cannot afford to pay their fees, they are forced to wait for a long time, hoping that they will find the money. During this time, they are not officially enrolled, and they cannot attend classes, or access the library or any other facility in the institution. As a result, they are at risk of falling behind in their studies, which can affect their academic performance.

However, with the Scholarship Committee Head paying their fees on the academic registration deadline day, students can complete their registration and continue with their studies without any interruptions. This not only ensures that they are on track academically but also helps to boost their morale and confidence.
Paying students' fees on the academic registration deadline day sends a message of care and concern from Mr Ababio to the students. It shows that he understands the financial challenges that students face and is willing to provide support to ensure that they achieve their academic goals. This can help to build a strong relationship between the students and himself, as it fosters a sense of belonging and mutual respect.

The impact of paying students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is significant, not only on the individual student but also on the institution and the community. When students can access education without any financial barriers, they are more likely to graduate and become productive members of society. This can lead to the creation of job opportunities, economic growth, and the overall development of the community.
Paying students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is an example of servant leadership. Servant leadership is a leadership style that prioritizes the needs of the followers and places the leader in a position of service to them. By paying students' fees, the Scholarship Committee Head is serving the students they represent, and this is a hallmark of effective leadership.

While paying students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is a noble gesture, it is important to note that it is not a sustainable solution to the problem of the high cost of education. The government and other stakeholders need to work towards providing affordable education for all, irrespective of their socio-economic status.
I, therefore, implore the Scholarship Committee Head to develop a long-term strategy to support students who cannot afford to pay their fees. This can include creating a scholarship fund, partnering with organizations and individuals to provide financial assistance to students, and advocating for policies that promote affordable education.

The Scholarship Committee Head needs to ensure that the process of paying students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is transparent, fair and equitable. They need to develop clear criteria for selecting the students who will benefit from this initiative and ensure that all eligible students have access to the opportunity.
The problem with student leaders is that they are not successful until their successor succeeds. I Samuel Kwame Owusu (SKO), am particularly thankful to God that Mr Ababio whom I handed over to as the UGSRC Scholarship Committee Head is making a meaningful impact on students. He has not ceased to consult me since he was appointed. Student leaders should know how to approach, consult, and communicate with their predecessors for advice and for the betterment of the SRC

Since Mr Ababio was appointed as the Scholarship Committee Head waiting for his approval, he and his deputy, Mr Isaac Acheampong have been efficiently and diligently working. they have been seen in lecture halls a number of times announcing the opening of the UG Sponsorship (Scholarship) to the level 100 students and sensitizing them to the necessity to apply for the Scholarship
In conclusion, the decision by the SRC Scholarship Committee Head to pay students' fees on the academic registration deadline day is a strategic and noble gesture that deserves commendation. It helps to alleviate the stress and anxiety that students experience on this day, and it sends a message of care and concern from himself to the students. However, while this initiative is commendable, it is important to work towards providing affordable education for all, irrespective of their socio-economic status.
